Whitby Goth Weekend April 2013

It has been such a long time since I posted anything to the blog. Life has taken different turns so the photography has taken a bit of a back seat. Over the next month I am planning more photos that I have not had chance to blog about.

So here is my 1st blog of the year. And nearly a year since I last blogged. Spent the weekend up at Whitby and photographed some of the goths and surround landscape. The weather was better than this time last year. Was nice to see a few family faces.

The Olympic Torch at the Deep

Decided to get up early and go join the crowds and watch the Olympic torch at The Deep in Hull. One of the stewards snapped a shot of me with one of the torch bearers.  Even managed to get on a YouTube video.

Live Art At Platform 2012

A few images of the fantastic artists and illustrators, who over two days filled two walls at Platform 2012 hosted by Hull University.

Art work done by visitors is also featured on  large roll of paper on the Hull School of Art and Design and Rabbit Heart Game Design table. Visitors where encouraged to unleash their artistic talents and make their mark.

Abandoned In East Yorkshire

I have been hectically busy over the last few weeks, I have not uploaded anything to flickr, or written a blog in over a month. I have not had much time to shoot for pleasure, been to busy with client work.

I am also in the process of moving my blog to WordPress on my website. Its been a bit of a learning curve updating my website, learning CSS and website design. I am just getting to grips with wordpress and finding a theme I am happy with.

Below are some HDR shots taken near Holmpton, East Yorkshire.

Day 182/365 Playing with photoshop

Had a photo shoot at Sugar Mill Night Club in Hull. This is from the second shoot of the day. Model feature is Betty Banzai from Model Mayhem. I want to do a grunge type poster similar to this Dirty Grunge Poster and Simple steps to create impressive illustration. Also this list of 450+ grunge brushes helped.

bb01 Original image

bb02 Background cut and left white

bb03 Duplicated layer, then Filter -> Artistic -> Cut Out. Set blend mode to 60% opacity.

bb04 New layer render clouds then blur, add radial shape in new layer

bb05 Build up layer with grunge brushes and changing layer blending styles, altering graduated blend mode

bb06 Continue with other brushes

bb07 Show all layers

bb08 Then text layer with graduated layer style.

Ganton School Charity Fashion Show and Pamper Night

Attended a Ladies pamper night at Willerby Manor Hotel, East Yorkshire. It was a fund raiser for Ganton School  to raise money for special bikes for the children at the school.

Ganton special school has around 190 pupils aged 3-19 with severe learning difficulties, at Ganton they have been raising money to buy some special cycles. they are along way from the £15,000 needed

The event raised £571. Around 150 people attended. With 30 local business stalls.
