Withernsea In Winter

Had a ride out to Withernsea to pick my daughter from school. Due to module I have completed at university this is the 1st time I have taken my camera out for the 1st time this year. It was just starting to freeze when I got there. So did not hang around to long.

All shot with Canon 5d Mk2, with 24-70mm 2.8L. Post processing Photomatix, 3exposures and edited with Lightroom 3.

Autumn Rainbow

rainbow autumn

I remember as a kid been taught the the colours of the rainbow with this rhyme, Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain. Red-Orange-Yellow-Green-Blue-Indigo-Violet.

Over the last few weeks I have been noticing changes various changes happening outside. Darker mornings, nights drawing in, getting colder and damper. But this year has been spectacular. I blog that I read set a challenge to photograph autumn. So I thought I would capture as many colours as possible. So I had the idea to shoot an autumn rainbow.

Dad’s Dahlias

Went to see my dad the other day. His award winning dahlia’s are in full bloom. He lives a few streets away from me and when I have to describe where he lives, I say “near the shops, the garden full of dahlias”. People always know which one I mean. My middle daughter was getting in the photography mood as well. Not sure if I like the competitionSmile

Camera: Eos 5d Mark2

Post Production: Lightroom with “Alice’s Less bright dress” “Insta-Lightroom Nashville” “Less direct positive” “NYKF subdued” and “PH Fashion shot” presets.

Had a wander around the old town of Hull. A new pedestrian bridge is been built near Myton bridge. Meet another photographer called Gary Cooper, He told me that the big lift was going to be about September/October time.

Withernsea Pier Towers

Had a little time to kill in Withernsea so had a trip out with my camera. So got some shots of the pier towers. The pier towers where built 1875 and had to be later demolished after a coal barge collided with it. The towers are the only part that survives. There is also a memorial  bench built by Russ Coleman.

The images where edited in Lightroom and Photomatix, they where shot with 3 exposures with a stop +/- on each one.

Keyingham a village under snow.

My car has been stuck on the drive the last couple of days due to the snow. Luckily it was on the drive and not under the car port. This is now in pieces on my drive. I think the the foot of snow that fell overnight had not helped. Every one of the steel beams had bent under the weight. As it fell it has pulled off several pieces of guttering, this has lead to the formation of large icicles over our front door.
So I decided to have a wander around my village of Keyingham to see how the snow had changed things. It was nice to see people pulling as a community and clearing snow from each others drives and paths.

Humber Bridge

The underside of the Humber bridge. When it 1st open it the worlds longest single span suspension bridge. Yorkshire and Lincolnshires own congestion charge. If the charge was scraped it would help local business work between the two sides of the river.

Swine Church

Swine Church HDR4, originally uploaded by Graham Warsap.

Need to get out and get some more new shoots. Until then another HDR shot. Taken at Swine church, East Yorkshire.
Have a wedding book here next April. Nice peaceful village. Might have a trip up there again in the near future.
